An individual, on average, generates 2.4 tons of trash a year. From that trash, there are huge quantities of recyclable items that are just being thrown into a landfill. Trying to divert as much of that as possible could potentially save your city a lot of money. Philadelphia is taking action and has created the Recycle Bank which gives customers points for recycling.

Wise Metals Group in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, is undertaking a $25 million expansion to its recycling facility. When the expansion is complete, the facility will recycle scrap aluminum.
